Children are accepted from three months and will stay in the unit until they are two years old - then they will move into the second section of the Nursery housed in the Barn. Our staff are trained with either NVQ, PPA Diploma, Btec, NNEB or Montessori qualification. The ratios within the buildings adhere to Social Service recommendations.

Our Baby Unit is very popular we recommend early reservation for spaces to avoid disappointment.

Security

CCTV cameras monitor each room in the baby unit section of the day nursery.  These have been provided to ensure that Parents can, if they wish, monitor their own child for settling in, and to ensure that although children are constantly supervised in all rooms by staff.

Coded locks secure all doors.

The Buildings

The Baby Unit is situated within a barn set  in the garden of the Farmhouse, specifically adapted for babies and young children. There are four main rooms; under ones, one to 18months and rising two years. A further room is devoted to a sleeping area, and one to mealtimes Meals are  a social affair, with all ages enjoying their home cooked food together, just as they would in a family at home

Each room provides the appropriate toys and equipment for all children in accordance to their individual age and stage.

We have a separate kitchen for sterilising bottles and preparing drinks. The main meals are prepared in the kitchen, situated within the House.

The Under Ones' Room

The room consists of a quiet, cosy area where the younger children can crawl, toddle and use the toys specially designed for them.

Staff will interact to develop social and language skills, so essential to stimulate at this age.

The cots are placed next to this room, to enable easy access if children are tired.

Daily progress charts are kept for the younger babies, Parents are able to ensure that they are aware of nappy changes, feeding times and general comments regarding their child’s progress through each day.

Babies of all ages have fun with toys for their age groups

The Baby room has many different kinds of stimulation. Babies can use all their senses to absorb the world around them, in this safe comfortable environment, with their teachers ready to encourage, and and take the lead to help and understand all levels of communication.  Day Nursery special garden for the babies

The children can take part in the activities planned for the day. Staff have a weekly timetable to enable activities to take place within this room or outside, weather permitting. This unit will concentrate on the development of early skills. The essential skills of language development and manipulative skills are laid down in these early stages.

We have a special area for 'messy' activities such as; sand and water play, play dough, junk modelling, painting and gluing, etc.

And when it is all over, and we are just so tired................................................................................................
