Children are accepted from 2 years, and will stay in the unit until they are three years old - then they will move into the third section of the Day Nursery situated in the House. The ratio within the building is 1:4. This unit follows the Birth to Three matters framework, the guide to individual learning. A loose curriculum following some general themes, festivals, seasons etc. are followed but are secondary to the individual daily plans designed for each child, according to their profile. These development profiles are first carried out six weeks after commencement, then approximately every three months after that.

There are two main rooms, each with a small group of 8 children with 2 two keyworkers, plus assisting staff.

Language development is encouraged at all levels and with all activities, the Montessori ethos is also developed within this area.

Children need to have fun!

They are small for such a short time, we want to give them every opportunity to enjoy every aspect of their time with us.

These children are  learning through their play, using  water, sand and other mediums. They absorb many different concepts, including both mathematical and linguistic. Simple skills, including pouring, lifting, handling, measuring, all develop from these very small beginnings.

The children will begin to lay the tables, cut their food, use a knife and fork, and practice the hand and eye coordination necessary for pouring their own drinks and cutting their own fruit.

Each group follows a structured day filled with interesting activities. Children will participate in story sessions,  number games ,  music,  with many art and creative sessions.

Children within this group have a "Blue book" this is a home school record that allows communication between home and school, it is especially helpful for working Parents, who may find it difficult to have time at the end of the day, or in the morning to talk to members of staff.

We are very fortunate to have such a wonderful environment, the children interact with nature, and play with a wide variety of materials enjoying the outside area as much as possible.
